NJPPP

Bravo! The Nigerian Journal of Politics and Public Policy (NJPPP) is proudly back! It is self-satisfying that both the natural and unsuspected human limitations which seemed to have (and, indeed, temporarily) blurred the stride of the foremost, famous and unique outfit for publication of important research findings and exposé on striking, torrent and topical themes in classical as well as recent politics, political theory and policy making. For clarity, those disabling forces could, at best, be categorized into two human contrived elements or pedestals. On the one hand, the first element boils down to chumps of intermittent systemic/bureaucratic hurdles exercebated by some _ stern/tendentious policy—perhaps for administrative convenience. My experience in the Department also had informed me of the inability of its several successive Heads during whose tenures NJPPP went to sleep. However, the several years of NJPPP snooze were one which ultimately retarded academic/intellectual symbiosis and hindered the capacity to enhance the social/moral obligation of the academia. Even though I recognize some useful efforts by recent Heads at resurcitating the Journal, the point of the preceding paragraph could never have been such futile, but perhaps for the limiting implications of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic (which actually did ramp-up much of human activity not beyond scramble to survive), and the several but unfortunate strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Nigeria. Now back, NJPPP hopes to revitalize its commitment and murph back into (and sustain) its hitherto reputable ambience. Thus while NJPPP regrets those disenabling circumstances, it musters a return and assures its contributors of readiness to revitalize and sustain established progress by striving to meet up outstanding volumes in quick succession. This volume (7/1&2) reassures and commits to that desire and aspiration. The volume and its selection places emphasis on articles essentially either social scientific or more general contributions from the humanities—but without compromising quality. Hence this volume clears-up the back-log of outstanding accepted submissions. Still, it is hoped that, soonest, NJPPP, in the stride towards meeting international standards, attracts some funding which shall necessitate the elimination of any form of pecuniary charges on contributors. I want to reiterate the hope that, NJPPP achieves a website appearance soon (starting present volume), and contributors and general readership shall have easier/global access to its contents. And finally, as always, it's important to echo that while ultimate responsibility for each entry lies on the author(s).
